The Storytellers division is the creative engine of Beles Bubu — producing high-quality films, songs, books, and animations that preserve African languages and cultural identity. Inspired by six years of proven impact and over 1,200 videos across East Africa, this division transforms community stories, children’s learning materials, and women’s voices into world-class multimedia content. Through a multilingual approach that spans 15+ African languages, The Storytellers ensure every child, family, and community can see themselves reflected in joyful, values-driven storytelling. This is where Africa’s stories are created, protected, and projected into the future.

The Market Movers

Focus: Sales, distribution, publishing, books, products, global reach


The Market Movers are responsible for carrying Beles Bubu’s creative products across villages, settlements, schools, and global markets. In partnership with Books Away From Home (BAFH) and dozens of regional institutions, this division publishes and distributes books, educational materials, toys, and cultural products that uplift African children and families. From multilingual books to branded merchandise and global streaming distribution, The Market Movers ensure that African stories reach homes in East Africa, the diaspora, and the world — helping preserve identity while unlocking sustainable revenue and creative enterprise.

The Academy

Focus: Training, women empowerment, refugee skills, arts education, job placement

The Academy is Beles Bubu’s transformational training powerhouse — a space where refugees, women, and youth gain professional skills that open doors to opportunity. Rooted in Beles Bubu’s long-standing work with UNHCR, RLCU, financial institutions, and community organizations, The Academy offers hands-on courses in filmmaking, animation, editing, storytelling, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. Through the upcoming Beles Bubu Film Academy & Training House in Kampala, the division will train thousands of creatives, support mental health and child protection awareness, and create pathways to employment in Africa’s rapidly growing creative economy. Here, skills become livelihoods, and learning becomes dignity.

The Tech Forge

Focus: Software, AI, digital learning platforms, apps, tech infrastructure

The Tech Forge designs and powers the digital backbone of Beles Bubu’s creative future. From streaming platforms and children’s mobile learning apps to AI translation tools for 15+ African languages, this division ensures that African stories travel faster, reach wider, and remain accessible to families everywhere. The Tech Forge also builds systems for data protection, analytics, multilingual localization, and digital safety, helping Beles Bubu scale responsibly and sustainably. It is where technology meets culture to create inclusive, modern tools for storytelling, education, and community empowerment.

The Bridge Builders

Focus: Partnerships with NGOs, donors, governments, consultancy, advisory work

The Bridge Builders cultivate the collaborations that make Beles Bubu’s mission possible. Working with ministries, global NGOs, refugee networks, universities, banks, and media institutions, this division creates strategic partnerships that strengthen community programs, expand distribution, and unlock new funding for creative impact. From advisory work on refugee storytelling to co-creating empowerment initiatives with UNHCR, OPM, and financial institutions, The Bridge Builders ensure Beles Bubu’s vision is shared, supported, and amplified across Africa and beyond. They turn relationships into impact and opportunities into lifelong change.

The Heritage Lab

Focus: Cultural research, community documentation, digital innovation, identity preservation

The Heritage Lab is the research and cultural preservation arm of Beles Bubu. This division documents refugee stories, community histories, traditional knowledge, languages, and lived experiences across East Africa. Through books, films, digital archives, and innovative cultural projects, the Heritage Lab ensures Africa’s heritage is recorded, protected, and passed on to future generations. Working closely with community elders, researchers, artists, and international partners, the Lab blends ancient wisdom with cutting-edge digital innovation, creating a modern blueprint for preserving identity in a rapidly changing world.

The Protection Circle

Focus: Child protection, GBV response, community development, refugee support

The Protection Circle upholds Beles Bubu’s commitment to safety, dignity, and community wellbeing. Guided by global child protection standards and rooted in refugee-led leadership, this division implements GBV response programs, mental health support initiatives, community development activities, and safeguarding policies for children and vulnerable groups. Working with partners such as RLCU, NRC, Strong Minds, and the Ministry of Gender, the Protection Circle ensures that every Beles Bubu project — from storytelling to training — is carried out with care, ethical responsibility, and deep respect for every person’s humanity.

Production of youth & teen empowerment content addressing social issues, refugee story documentation, and community media projects.

04 Creative Pipeline:

Maintain a robust, scalable production pipeline capable of delivering high-quality, culturally relevant media designed for early learning and youth empowerment.

05 Language Hub:

Operate a dedicated multilingual hub for translation and voiceover to ensure content is accessible to diverse communities, especially in refugee settlements and across the continent.

06 Strategic Distribution:

Develop content specifically for various channels including TV, YouTube, schools, and streaming platforms to maximize reach and social impact.

Publishing and printing of books in multiple African languages (Tigrigna, Amharic, Swahili, Somali, etc.), including refugee storybooks and multilingual curriculum materials

02 Distribution Network:

Print and digital distribution across refugee settlements, villages, libraries, and schools.

03 Revenue Products:

Sales of creative products (books, toys, curriculum, merchandise, digital products), content licensing, streaming revenue, and revenue from festivals/events.

04 Print & Digital Strategy:

Manage a dual-platform strategy for print and digital publishing to serve both traditional and modern reading habits.

05 Global & Local Reach:

Establish reliable physical and digital distribution channels, focusing on reaching underserved communities while also expanding into international markets for global sales.

06 Commercialization:

Develop a diverse product portfolio and licensing model to create sustainable, non-grant-based revenue streams that support the mission.

03 Hands-On Learning:

Operate the Creative Production & Training House (studios, classrooms, labs) as a hub for practical, industry-relevant training and skills development.

04 Holistic Development:

Integrate financial literacy and entrepreneurship into creative programs to ensure trainees have the business skills needed to monetize their creative talents.

Digital platform development, including websites, learning portals, streaming services, and online classes.

02 Software Solutions:

Development of educational apps, storytelling tools, custom software for NGOs and schools, and data-driven digital storytelling solutions.

03 Digital Marketing:

Full Digital Marketing Haul and digital transformation consulting.

04 Infrastructure Build:

Continuously develop and maintain proprietary digital infrastructure (websites, streaming, LMS) to host and distribute content and training programs.

The Protection Circle

The Protection Circle upholds Beles Bubu’s commitment to safety, dignity, and community wellbeing. Direct Protection: Management of Child Protection Cases, Women Support, and immediate response to GBV (Gender-Based Violence) and Domestic Violence.

Refugee community media projects and cultural identity promotion (as a core social mission).

03 Safe Pathways:

Safe Pathways: Establish and maintain confidential referral systems and safe pathways in partnership with specialized NGOs to ensure immediate and professional support for those in crisis.

04 Media & Outreach:

Utilize media and content (developed by The Storytellers) to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote positive social norms around child protection and gender-based violence prevention.
